Getting
ready for school can place enormous demands on a struggling family.
That is why the Charity started Smart Start for School - a program
that provides basic school supplies and clothing for area families.
Though the program still is in its infancy, more than 600 children
have been served and area principals are hoping the program will
be expanded in years to come.
"The beginning of school should be a time of anticipation and
joy. You made that happen for many of our students." said Monica
Boccieri, principal of Charles E. Bennett Elementary School. "Your
donations were a generous way to help our students who might otherwise
be without needed materials."
Last year
the Smart Start for School program served children at Charles E.
Bennett, W.E. Cherry and Clay Hill Elementary schools. The children
were selected, based on need, by the school administrations and
guidance councelors.
